Ser emprendedor parece muy divertido en las redes y en las películas. Vemos altos ejecutivos viviendo sus lujosas vidas y llevando sus empresas como si no tuvieran problema alguno. El gobierno hace sus grandes campañas alegando apoyar el emprendedurismo, pero nadie nos cuenta de las trabas que ellos mismos ponen.
No he visto el primer politico que hablando del tema impositivo, porque desde luego, sería contraproducente para ellos. Qué emprendedor que facture como persona física tendría incentivo a declarar sus impuestos si la proporción de lo que debe pagar es mayor mientras mayor sea su nivel de facturación? Por otro lado, en casos de los que facturen como personas jurídicas, tendrán que asegurar que su nivel de facturación sea suficiente como para poder pagar impuestos el año que siguiente, entonces cuándo podrán los emprendedores disfrutar realmente de los esfuerzos de su trabajo u organizarse financieramente para reinvertir en sus negocios si tienen que tener disponible fondos suficientes para poder cubrir los gastos impositivos del año siguiente, en caso de que no puedan mantener para entonces su nivel de ventas.
Lo peor de todo no es solamente la cantidad de impuestos que se recaudan, sinó los fines para los que se usan los mismos. Los servicios de salud, de eduación y de transporte público en nuestro país, por ejemplo, son paupérrimos. Y qué es peor que eso para un emprendedor? Salir, como hice la semana pasada, a un restaurante y ver cómo algunos de los dinosaurios de la política piden una botella tras otra, sin que les de pena ni verguenza. Mientras para los que trabajamos de manera digna y continua para poder asegurar un futuro próspero para nuestras familias ir a cenar a un restaurante es un privilegio, para ellos es un hábito. Entonces en un país donde tampoco se preocupa el gobierno en propagar los valores como el eje fundamental para el desarrollo del país, cada vez más habrán menos incentivos a emprender de manera responsable y más propensidad hacia la corrupción.

Taxes for Dinner
Being an entrepreneur seems a lot of fun in social media and in movies. We see senior executives living their luxurious lives and taking their businesses as if they had no problem. The government makes its big campaigns by claiming to support entrepreneurship, but no one tells us the obstacles that they really set upon us.
I have not seen the first politician talking about the tax issue, because it would certainly be counterproductive to them. What incentive would and entrepreneur who bills as a natural person have to pay their taxes if the proportion of what they have to pay were higher the more they produce? On the other hand, in the case of those who bill as juridical persons, they would have to assure a certain level of sales in order to cover for the taxes they have to pay the next year, so when can entrepreneurs really begin to enjoy the efforts of their work or organize themselves financially to reinvest in their businesses?
The worst part of all of this is not only the amount of taxes that are collected, but the purposes for which they are used. The health, education and public transport services in our country, for example, are extremely inneficient. And what’s worse than that for an entrepreneur? Go out for dinner, as I did last week, seeing how some of the dinosaurs of Dominican politics ask for one bottle after another in restaurants, without them being embarrassed or ashamed. While for those of us who work in a dignified and continuous manner to ensure a prosperous future for our families see dining out as a privilege, for them it has become a habit. So in a country where the government is not concerned about propagating values as the key to the country’s development, there will increasingly be less incentives to pursue responsible business practices and more propensity towards corruption.
